About Us

About East Coast Bays Community Creche

We are a well-established (since 1984), fully licensed, not-for-profit, mixed age early childhood centre (6 months to 5 years).  The majority of our teachers have worked in the centre for several years with our most recent team member joining us four years ago.

We offer sessional and extended days, catered to suit your individual needs.  Our small group setting is licensed for 32 children taught by an enthusiastic team of 100% qualified and registered teachers.

We have a fantastic programme in which children are at the forefront of our teaching and learning.   We value and believe in nurturing positive learning dispositions which enable children to operate in a constantly changing world. We achieve this by supporting respectful and reciprocal relationships in an environment that fosters wellbeing and belonging. We provide a programme that encourages bicultural practice, curiosity, joy, perseverance, resilience, and confidence as well as independence and the development of social competencies.

Being situated in the heart of Browns Bay and on the Village Green enables us to maintain strong connections with our local community.  With Browns Bay Beach and Taiaotea  Creek  just metres away we have opportunities to explore and appreciate our natural world.

It has been an absolute privilege to have been on The Crèche’s journey since this time and to have had the opportunity to support and work with so many tamariki and their whānau.

I am a committed lifelong learner. Ongoing professional development continues to inspire and inform my practice, keeping me up to date with current theory and practice.  A major highlight for my teaching career was participating in a study tour to Reggio Emilia in 2012.  This professional learning has had a huge influence on my practice and to this day contributes greatly to our programme.

While I’m passionate about working in all curriculum areas I am particularly drawn to the visual and performing arts. I’m also interested in children’s physical development. Most important for me though is providing opportunities for children to develop to their full potential, supporting their interests and their view of themselves as capable competent learners.

I hold a diploma in Primary Education and a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education.

I have always held an interest in children’s development which led me to my career in early childhood education.  I love teaching at our community-based mixed age range centre where the well-being of children and their whānau is at the forefront of our practice.

I am very enthusiastic about literacy, numeracy and the visual arts and enjoy incorporating these interests into our curriculum.

I am passionate about working in collaboration with tamariki and whānau and provide meaningful learning experiences for all learners. I have a strong commitment to ensuring equitable opportunities for all within our teaching and learning space and value the rich contributions from the diverse cultures that make up our learning community.

I believe that all children are unique, and it is vital that children have a stimulating and educational environment where they can grow mentally, emotionally and socially through strong attachments with teachers.

My passion is working within the community sector of Early Childhood. I value relationships greatly and believe that positive, reciprocal relationships are fundamental in providing the best possible outcomes for all tamariki.

Within our curriculum I value and enjoy early literacy learning and physical play.

Viewing the world through the eyes of a child brings me great joy and I feel grateful to work in a positive and constructive environment.
